New technologies, including artificial intelligence, promise to offer insights and answers, sometimes even in the guise of a direct conversation with divine figures.

The appeal is understandable. We seek clarity, comfort, and connection. When a new app promises to 'talk to Jesus' or offer direct divine counsel, it can feel like a profound spiritual breakthrough. Yet, as believers committed to the truth of God's Word, a thoughtful pause is warranted. How do we navigate these new frontiers while holding fast to the ancient paths of faith?

The sacred boundary of God's Word

Our faith is rooted in the unchanging truth of God's revealed Word. The Bible is not just a book; it is God's very breath, inspired and authoritative for our lives.

Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)

This truth sets a sacred boundary. When any voice, digital or otherwise, claims to speak for God directly, it enters hallowed ground. The Bible warns against those who speak in God's name without His command, and against adding to or taking away from His words.

4. Privacy and data security: Your walk with God is deeply personal. Any application that handles your journaling, prayer requests, or personal reflections should clearly state that your private data will never be used to train AI models or be shared without your explicit consent. Your confessions and prayers are sacred, not data points for an algorithm.

Ultimately, a healthy digital tool for faith will strengthen your spiritual disciplines, not replace them. It should point you to the Bible, to prayer, and to your community, rather than becoming a substitute for these vital elements of Christian life.
