From a Lost Notebook to a Life Rooted: The Story Behind the App

Rooted evolved from a simple way to capture sermon notes into a complete spiritual companion designed to help our community study, reflect, and live out the Word every day.

If you walked into our service on any given Sunday, you’d see a familiar sight: rows of people with notebooks open, pens flying, trying to capture every word of the sermon.

For a long time, I was one of them. We’d take these notes, carry them home, and spend our Sunday afternoons dissecting them just so we could figure out how to actually put them into practice by Monday morning. But life happens. Sometimes I’d forget my notebook on the kitchen table. Other times, the pastor would get on a roll and I simply couldn't write fast enough to keep up.

There was one thing I never forgot, though: my phone.

The "Sermon Snippet" That Grew

Rooted started with a very simple goal: Create a digital way to capture sermon notes. I wanted something that lived where I lived—on my phone—so I’d never miss a key insight again.

But as our team started diving deeper into the Word and reading transformative books like Victorious Emotions, we realized that a "note-taker" wasn't enough. We needed something that tracked the entire journey. We decided to expand the vision to include:

• A Daily Journal: To track thoughts and emotions as they happen.
• Prayer & Success Logs: To see where we’ve been and how far we’ve come.
• Interactive Bible Study: A tool that doesn't just store information, but supplements it—asking the hard questions that get your mind moving on how to actually implement what you’ve learned.

From Personal Tool to Community Resource

Honestly? Rooted was originally just for us. It was a personal project to help us stay consistent. But then a funny thing happened: friends started seeing it. People in the congregation started asking, "Wait, what is that? Can I use that too?"

That was the "lightbulb" moment. We realized that the struggle to stay connected to the Word throughout the week wasn't just ours—it was a shared challenge.

Rooted was born out of a need to stay planted in the Truth, even when life moves fast. We’ve gone from scribbling in the margins of a notebook to having a comprehensive spiritual companion in our pockets. We’re so excited to finally share it with you.
